Celebrating Human Investment

Friday 29 March 2019 culminated in the grand finale of KLM Empowered’s graduation tour around the country, which included ceremonies in Cape Town, Durban, and two groups in Johannesburg with the grand finale on Friday 29th March-at the Nicol Hotel, Bedfordview. It was an inspirational and vibrant event that upheld the institution’s belief in #TheGreatnessEffect, rooted in a people oriented philosophy.

The keynote address was delivered by Group General Counsel of Naspers, David Tudor who flew out from Amsterdam for the occasion. With deeply moving diplomacy, Tudor examined the seven characteristics of leadership, and iterated that “People are your greatest asset. Success comes down to the people in your group.” Tudor also expressed the importance of education, sharing “I love teaching, it’s one of the greatest things in the world.”

The graduating groups included the NQF 4 Project Management Learnership, sponsored by Naspers; the NQF Level 5 IT Systems Development Learnership and the NQF Level 6 in Business Analytics sponsored by Dell EMS; as well as NQF Level 5 Customer Management Learnerships sponsored by KLM Empowered and DELL EMS. All participants achieved tremendously well and many stood up to deliver testimonials of their positive experience through KLM Empowered’s managed Learnerships. “I’m so grateful, KLM Empowered even went the extra mile of finding me a job,” Expressed one Learner.

Neo Mokoena, Learnership Manager of Dell, stepped up to motivate her team. She noted the importance of showing up and pushing on “ What did I do? I put on my favourite lipstick and I rocked up!” She encouraged, with verve.

“There is no end, only a continuance of where you are,” CEO of KLM Empowered, Lyn Mansour agreed in her address. Mansour also spoke about her 4 C’s – “Chapters, Choice, Change and Commitment.” The importance of perseverance and self-empowerment within the space of growth captured the spirit of the day. “If opportunity does not knock, build that door!” Ended KLM Empowered’s G.M of Project Operations, Bernice Ebersey. “Learnerships are an essential part of creating opportunity, for yourself and others.”

A sense of integrity, humble celebration and community captured all present at the ceremony. David Tudor’s presence was truly motivational and a great testament to the importance of human investment. KLM Empowered is grateful to have been an integral part of this developmental process with phenomenal sponsors and vibrant young minds of tomorrow, as they all begin their new, leveled-up chapters.
